The HG2 unit provides similar advantages as the HG1 line of products, including lowering carbon emissions and reducing fuel consumption in diesel engines.
However, the HG2 unit is much smaller in size than the HG1 unit. The new HG2 unit is suited for smaller diesel engines than those that are specifically suited to the HG1 line of HydraGEN™ Technology.
The HG2 unit is appropriate for those smaller displacement diesel engines used in Buses, Class 2 to Class 7 trucks, Refrigerator Trailers and Containers, Mobile Construction Equipment, Small Generators and Smaller Trucks commonly found outside of North America, such as in European countries and in India. This market size represents approximately 20 million applications in North America and similar sized market opportunities in each of the European and Asian markets.
dynaCERT’s engineers were successful in combining the benefits of two prototype HG2 models into one single more advanced and powerful model. The new HG2 model includes a completely newly developed HydraGEN™ reactor design, a built-in water tank, a climate control system and our next generation electronics, dynaCERT’s Smart ECU2. As well, the HG2 units feature dynaCERT’s new HydraLytica™ telematics system enabling the display of the lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions reductions in real time. Under normal operating conditions, the HG2 unit will produce hydrogen (H2) gas flows suitable for diesel engines from 1 to 5 litres in displacement.
How it works
The HydraGEN™ HG2 uses an advanced patented electrolysis system to provide a flow of hydrogen and oxygen gas into the air intake of an internal combustion diesel engine. When added in controlled quantities, pure hydrogen gas has been proven to facilitate faster and more efficient combustion of diesel fuel resulting in increased fuel mileage, decreased emissions, decreased DEF usage and reduced engine wear during normal engine operations.
The HydraGEN™ HG2 produces hydrogen and oxygen gas on demand. It produces gas and uses the natural suction created by the engine at the air intake to drive the gas flow. Distilled water mixed with Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) is used to generate clean and plentiful gas for introduction into the engine. To enable this, regular filling of the unit with distilled water is required.
The HydraGEN™ HG2 is designed to work in a wide range of temperatures and conditions. A durable housing designed for all weather operations ensures high reliability. The unit is operational in temperatures between –40 and +50°C.
The HydraGEN™ HG2 system possess two main inputs and one output. These are 12VDC or 24VDC power, ignition signal and gas outlet respectively. The unit is powered directly by the engine’s power system and the smart electronic control unit (ECU) within the unit uses the ignition signal to mirror the unit’s ON/OFF state to the engine’s.
The HydraGEN™ HG2 system can be utilized in a multitude of applications. It can be used in conjunction with power generation, construction equipment, refrigerated trailers, trucks, buses, delivery vans, mining equipment as well as boats. To enable such a diverse range of applications, the HydraGEN™ HG2 system utilizes a multitude of general purpose as well as custom mounting solutions.
